AMSA Talks - with Scarlet Neath of The Policing Project
Scarlet Neath, MPP is a Senior Advisor at The Policing Project at New York University Law School and The Policing Project. On May 30 and with co-authors Barry Friedman and Max Markham, Scarlett published an important guest essay in the New York Times, “A Revolution in Public Safety Is Underway." The essay details the national development of mobile crisis services since the murder of George Floyd in 2020. Scarlet joins AMSA Talks to walk through the essay and help us understand its impetus and impact.
Welcome Amanda Mathew!
We are pleased to introduce Amanda Mathew, who joins AMSA as an Engagement Coordinator.
Amanda (they/them) brings a background in public safety technical assistance, transformative justice community education, LGBTQIA+ community organizing, peer suicide crisis intervention, organizational equity work, and domestic violence survivor support. They are deeply interested in making equity tools that actually work, which means being creative, consistently hopeful, willing to learn, and practiced in accountability.
Amanda endeavors to live life with integrity, kindness, and fun. Outside of work and organizing, they can be found practicing the drums, dialing in espresso, playing video games, and taking long walks in any weather – all which are always better with family and friends. They are currently located in Boston, MA along with their spouse and dog.
Dana Bogdanove will be leaving AMSA at the end of June to attend graduate school at the University of Southern Oregon. Congratulations and thanks Dana!
