EVANSTON - CARE team shares initial positive response from the community, July 19
The Crisis Alternative Response Program (CARE) – a team of five civilians trained to respond to low-risk 911 and 311 calls – launched earlier this week and will officially begin taking calls July 29, residents at a Ninth Ward meeting.
LIVINGSTON - Montana to help form local crisis response team, July 17
The city kicked in $100,000 and Park County $50,000 for the program, which will include a program manager, paraprofessional, and an EMT/paramedic. The team, which will operate out of the city’s Fire/Rescue Division, will respond to mental health emergencies independently of law enforcement.

New Orleans Health Department Launches Innovative Dashboard for Mobile Crisis Intervention Unit
The City of New Orleans Health Department is excited to introduce the Mobile Crisis Intervention (MCIU) Dashboard, an interactive educational tool designed to provide transparency and insight into operations and outcomes. The design and information for the new dashboard were done in collaboration with the Vera Institute of Justice, Orleans Parish Communication District (OPCD), Resources for Human Development Inc. (RHD), New Orleans Health Department and New Orleans Office of Performance & Accountability. The Microsoft Justice Reform Initiative granted funds to develop the dashboard.
Estimated Total Diversion Rate to Date:
Since the MCIU start date (6/1/2023), OPCD has received 9472 MH calls (between NOPD and MCIU). Out of said total mental health calls, MCIU has received 3178 MH calls to date (6/23/2024) = 34% total diversion rate.
