CEDAR RAPIDS - New provider takes reins of mobile crisis outreach in Dubuque County, July 5, 2024
Foundation 2 Crisis Services began offering mobile crisis outreach services to Dubuque County after the program’s previous facilitator faced ongoing staffing shortages. The service typically involves teams of two, responding to people having a mental health crisis to help de-escalate the situation, stabilize the person, and look at the next steps. That usually includes referrals to local organizations or transportation. “We’re excited to be in Dubuque,” said Foundation 2 CEO Emily Blomme. “It feels like a good fit for us because we already provide services to surrounding counties.”
CHAPEL HILL - City police and county expand crisis response team, July 3, 2024
Chapel Hill Police Chief Celisa Lehew: “We know from the experience of our longstanding crisis unit that many calls involving behavioral health, mental health, and substance abuse require a specialized response. Therefore, Orange County’s 911 call center will now be home to a crisis counselor who will be an integral part of the CARE team and the holistic response within the community.”
INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana now has 59 counties served by mobile crisis teams, June 13, 2024
Legislators allocated $100 million to expand mobile crisis in 2023 but the Indiana Behavioral Health Commission estimated the project to cost around $130 million a year when it fully matured. However, HSS accepted Indiana into its CCBHC Medicaid Demonstration Program in June, which will provide reimbursement through Medicaid for the costs clinics incur treating patients without insurance or other form of payment.
