ST PAUL - Ramsey County will review fees it charges residents for crisis mental health services, August 6, 2024
Unlike some Minnesota counties, Ramsey County bills for mental health crisis services when insurance doesn’t cover them. Data show in 2023 and 2024, Ramsey County logged 2,712 “encounters” by its mobile crisis response teams. Of those, 58% were covered by public insurance such as Medicaid or Medicare, 15% were covered by commercial insurance and 27% were billed to individuals.

The official report from the US DOJ found no credible evidence to dispute officer Darren Wilson’s claim Michael Brown reached for the officer’s gun, and all the credible testimony from the day suggests Brown was neither holding his hands up nor turning away from Wilson when he was shot.
Wilson was never charged, and many in the community and around the country maintain that justice was never served. But the events from 10 years ago still served as a catalyst for change in Ferguson — and beyond.
