The Policing Project at NYU Law, Georgetown Law Center for Innovations in Community Safety, and the Alternative Mobile Services Association convened June 3-5 to address critical issues in the growing field of alternative first response. The Advancing the Field of Alternative Response Convening included plenary sessions and smaller break-out sessions that served municipal leaders, researchers, practitioners, and other stakeholders interested in collaborating on pressing and complex topics. The event featured facilitated policy discussions, issue-specific workshops, and opportunities to share promising new practices among policymakers and practitioners. Topics included workforce development, sustainable funding, narrative change, dispatch practices, community engagement, evaluation, responses to mediation, disability justice, and more.
