Write for the AMSA Weekly Newsletter
Want to write a guest column for the AMSA Weekly Newsletter? Great! We want to hear from you.
Here are guidelines for guest columnists.
Columns should range from 300-1000 words. Oftentimes, shorter columns are appropriate to tackle time-sensitive topics or how-to guides. Longer columns are welcome as well, but consider whether the column’s length matches the topic. A short amount of the column may appear on the Weekly website, available for anyone to read. The remainder will be behind the paywall.
Submissions should arrive in a Word document and be accompanied by a high-resolution portrait photo, name, title, licensure, and contact information which will be included along with the column. Your column can come with a headlines, or one can be provided.
Columns can include photos or files or graphs or audio recordings or short video recordings. All provided content must be owned by the author or the author’s employer; all copyrighted material must be owned by the author or author’s employer. Copyright remains with the author. Authors must be members of AMSA. Columns can also include links within the text or adjacent to the text.
Columns must be submitted by email to Jason@us-amsa.org. Text will be lightly edited for typos, spelling, and punctuation errors. The content of the column is otherwise the responsibility of the author. The subject and content of the column must be of interest to the subscribers to the Weekly.
If you’re not a writer - but still want to contribute, consider scheduling an interview with the AMSA staff to be transcribed and posted as a guest interview.
The AMSA Weekly Newsletter is online and available for members and partners of AMSA on the Substack platform. The newsletter publishes each Tuesday and each member gets a copy emailed to them. Archives of the newsletter are available for members and partners to search and review at any time.
The opinions expressed in individual commentaries published in the AMSA online weekly newsletter are solely those of the respective authors and do not necessarily reflect the views or positions of AMSA or its member organizations.
